Private health insurance premium changes for 2027

It's premium adjustment season. Insurers are announcing their 2027 changes one by one, and we show every change that is already public.

2027 so far

Which private health insurers raise premiums for 2027?

Nine insurers have announced their premiums for 2027 so far, and for adults the increases range from 1% to 20%. Many tariffs stay the same: 53 of the 130 tariffs for employees and the self-employed are unchanged for adults.

The reason

Why do private health insurance premiums go up?

Private premiums go up when healthcare costs rise faster than the insurer calculated, for example through new treatments and higher prices. The law only allows an adjustment once that gap passes a set threshold, so premiums rise in steps, not every year. Getting older never raises a lifelong premium by itself, because every lifelong premium includes savings for old age.

Your options

What can I do if my premium goes up?

You have three options. You can stay in your tariff and pay the new premium. You can switch to another tariff with the same insurer at any time, and your savings for old age stay in full. Or you can change insurer; the new insurer assesses your health again, and only part of your savings moves with you. We check all three options with you for free, also when the answer is a tariff switch.

FAQ

Short answers

Can I cancel because of the increase?
Yes, within two months of receiving the letter, but only once you have new cover without a gap.
Does my employer pay half of the increase?
Yes, until a legal maximum is reached, because your employer pays half of your premium.
